From Pain to Hope: Xamda’s Recovery Journey

Xamda A-lhi is a 22-year-old young mother. Six years ago, after giving birth to her first child, she developed a severe mental health condition known as postpartum psychosis. She eventually gave birth to three children, but due to her deteriorating condition, their grandmother had to take full responsibility for raising them.

Although she was taken to traditional healing centers (cilaaj), there was no improvement, and day by day her condition worsened.

The family’s life fell into darkness. The young children grew up without the love and care of their mother, while their grandmother sacrificed everything she had to protect and raise them.

In June 2025, SMHSO received information about Xamda’s condition. When we visited her home, we witnessed the heartbreaking reality she and her family were living through. Immediate medical treatment and support were started.

Within just two months, significant improvement was seen. Today, three months later, Xamda is fully recovered. She has rejoined her community, and with joy and strength, she is once again caring for her children alongside her mother.

This is a story of hope, healing, and transformation — a true testament to the power of timely intervention and dedicated care.

May Allah bless Xamda, her children, and her mother, and may He reward all who supported this journey.
We kindly call upon you to continue your donations and support, so that together we can bring light, healing, and dignity back to many more families in need.
